Annual charity golf day raises an astounding £22,500 for local charities

An annual charity golf day in aid of Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, East Anglian Children’s Hospices and Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital took place on Friday 6th May at Sprowston Manor Golf Club and raised an incredible £22,500.

Norwich-based DMD Group hosts a charity golf day annually, and after COVID postponing the event for the past two years, the response and support shown by local businesses and golfers across the county for the deserving charities this year has been phenomenal.

This year’s event marks DMD’s 6th year hosting, in which over that time they have been able to raise a significant amount of money for these charities, with this year’s fundraising almost totalling the previous five years efforts.

Brad McLean, Trustee of East Anglian Children’s Hospices commented, “EACH and GOSH are two exceptional charities, who provide support and care for children and families when they need it most. As a family whose son Stanley was under their care, we know first-hand the amazing work they do. So, on behalf of EACH and GOSH, thank you to Dean Peruzzi and DMD, and to everyone who took part and donated so generously.”

This year’s golf day was one of Norfolk’s biggest – as over 50 local businesses put in teams to play and more than 260 people attended the event. With local businesses such as The Bucket List Chips, Coffee Smiths and WhataHoot Gin set up on the course to keep the golfers going during the day.

The evening event had a live auction where many items were bid on, including a signed Harry Kane football boot which sold for an astonishing £1,000. Throughout the day many more generous contributions from local businesses were auctioned off and placed into a number of raffles, including donations from Roger Hickman’s Restaurant, Woodfordes Brewery and Norwich Camping and Leisure.

Dean Peruzzi, Founder and Managing Director of DMD Group comments, “Over the years our charity golf day has raised incredible sums of money for EACH and GOSH. This year we had the pleasure of adding another charity to our efforts, Norwich City Community Sports Foundation.

To give back to these charities and communities is an integral part of what DMD Group stands for and we are so pleased at how much was raised on the day. So, thank you to the golfers, sponsors, the golf club, volunteers, organisers, and all those involved for their efforts in making it such a successful day.”
