HOUSEBUILDER CELEBRATES QUEEN’S JUBILEE WITH TREE PLANTING IN BEXHILL-ON-SEA
In honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, David Wilson Homes has planted 1544 trees across its developments in the South East, including 15 trees at its Rosewood Park development on Barnhorn Road, Bexhill-on-Sea. The trees were planted between the months of October 2021 to March 2022 as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), which aims to benefit future generations by enhancing and protecting our environment.
The QGC is a tree planting project to commemorate Her Majesty’s 70 years of service. The campaign was kickstarted by the Queen and The Prince of Wales over a year ago in March 2021, when the first Jubilee tree was planted in the grounds of Windsor Castle. Since then, a range of individuals and community groups have all been encouraged to “Plant a tree for the Jubilee” which can then be logged on the QGC online map, where it is publicly available to view.
To commemorate the trees planted at Rosewood Park, David Wilson Homes has placed a plaque next to one of the newly planted trees, highlighting to passersby the significance of the tree and its link back to the larger campaign.
Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for David Wilson Homes, commented: “We are proud to join the Queen’s Green Canopy campaign at Rosewood Park, celebrating the Queen’s 70 years of service. Our saplings, which have been planted during recent months, form part of a wider network of sustainable measures at Rosewood Park, where we have introduced bird and bat nesting boxes, protected mature trees and created green spaces for residents to enjoy. In addition to this campaign, we have also pledged to become the first housebuilder to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, to building net zero carbon homes by 2030, and to purchasing 100% of its operational energy from renewal sources.”
