Bellway London offers helping hand to Salvation Army at Ebbsfleet Garden City

The Salvation Army at Ebbsfleet Garden City has received a donation from a local homebuilder towards its ongoing work in the community.

Bellway London, whose Harbour Village and Ebbsfleet Cross at Garden City developments form part of the wider regeneration of the area, presented a cheque for £500 to representatives from the Salvation Army’s local church recently.

The money will assist the charity in providing support to local people in need, including those facing poverty, homelessness, unemployment, addiction and isolation.

Louise Finch, Community Pioneer Leader for The Salvation Army at Ebbsfleet Garden City, said: “The Salvation Army is a church and charity and has been working in Ebbsfleet Garden City for just under two years.

“We are committed to developing ways to engage, build and connect our community together. We do this through working in partnership with residents, stakeholders, local churches and multi-faiths.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and support from Bellway which makes our work possible.”

The Salvation Army has worked for over 150 years, serving to provide practical support and services to those in need. Today, the Salvation Army is a church and a charity that serves in more than 130 countries.

Ed Brading, Acting Head of Sales for Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “As the cost of living continues to rise, it’s more important than ever that charities which help the most vulnerable in our society continue to receive support.

“Ever since it established a presence at Ebbsfleet Garden City, the Salvation Army has made an immeasurable difference to the lives of many people living in the local area and we are pleased to be providing financial assistance towards their vital work.”

Bellway London is building a mix of houses and apartments at the Harbour Village development which is regenerating the site of the former Northfleet Cement Works. More than 500 homes have been earmarked for the site, with planning permission already secured for 251 homes in the first two phases of the scheme.
