Barratt Homes has donated £1,500 to Parmiter’s School Parents & Teachers Association in Watford to fund a new educational programme focused on improving memory techniques for Year 8 students.

Parmiter School’s is a co-educational state comprehensive school that has been recognised for being one of the highest-performing schools in the country by value added.

The donation from Barratt Homes has supported a new ‘Elevate Education’s Memory Mnemonics Programme’, which will form an integral part of the recently launched Parmiter’s Learner Programme for the Year 8 students.

The programme aims to leverage different memory and learning styles and implement strategies for maximising attention and minimising distractions. The innovative sessions will enhance students learning and memory capabilities before they begin GCSE studies in the next academic year.

The donation was made by The Barratt Foundation’s Community Fund initiative, which enables each division to donate £1,500 a month to a local charity or organisation improving the lives of individuals in the areas close to its developments and head office.

Marc Woolfe, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt North Thames comments: “Supporting different learning styles is essential to the development of each pupil, empowering them to embark on the educational journey that is best suited to them. We are proud to support the launch of this innovative Memory Mnemonics Programme at Parmiter’s School, a new and exciting venture we are certain will make a positive difference to students.”

Mr Michael Jones, Headmaster from Parmiter’s School, adds: “Our Parent and Teacher Association has been key in bettering the learning of our students with exciting educational ideas. The donation from Barratt North Thames and its contribution towards our new initiative has been invaluable, covering a significant portion of the associated costs and making a tangible difference in our student’s educational experience.
