London Card Show Scores Double Nomination at the Growing Business Awards 2024
The 27th annual awards ceremony will take place on November 26th at the Hilton Bankside in London.
The London Card Show, a rising star in the UK’s vibrant business landscape, has landed a prestigious double nomination at the Growing Business Awards 2024. The event, which has become a cornerstone for card enthusiasts across Europe, has been shortlisted for both ‘Family-Owned Business of the Year’ and ‘Customer Experience and Loyalty Award – Small Business.’
The Growing Business Awards, now in their 27th year, are highly regarded as the ultimate recognition for exceptional businesses across the UK. Joining the ranks of previous winners like Ella’s Kitchen, Fever-Tree, and Zoopla, the London Card Show’s nominations mark a significant milestone in its journey from a small gathering of hobbyists to Europe’s largest trading card show.
Harry Reynolds, the Founder and CEO of the London Card Show, expressed his excitement about the nominations, stating, “We are thrilled to be recognised in these prestigious categories. Our journey has been driven by a deep passion for card collecting and a commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for our community. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.”
The London Card Show was established in 2021 with a clear mission: to bring card collectors of all types under one roof. What started with just 10 tables and 40 attendees has quickly evolved into a weekend-long spectacle attracting over 4,000 enthusiasts from around the globe. The event’s meteoric rise has been fueled by the dedication of the Reynolds family, whose collective effort has made the show a beacon for the trading card community.
At the heart of this success is a tightly-knit family operation. Harry Reynolds and his sister, Katie Hughes, who serves as the Chief Operating Officer, have transformed the London Card Show into a family affair. From their mother running the front desk to their sister Lucy managing the tuck shop, and even their grandparents helping to set up tables, every family member plays a vital role in the show’s operations. Katie’s husband, James Hughes, who is also the Marketing Director, underscores the event’s strong familial roots.
The show’s nomination in the ‘Family-Owned Business of the Year’ category is a testament to the family’s integral role in its growth and success. Their story is one of passion and dedication, with Harry and Katie’s close working relationship at the core. “The passion we both have for this brand has created a rock-solid relationship, and we just work fantastically well together,” they shared.
The London Card Show has also been recognised in the ‘Customer Experience and Loyalty Award – Small Business’ category, highlighting its commitment to providing a memorable experience for attendees. The show has become more than just an event—it’s a community where families and enthusiasts of all ages come together to celebrate their shared love of trading cards. The recent event in early August drew over 600 vendors and saw significant highlights, including the presence of England football legend David James and a remarkable £100,000 Messi & Ronaldo card pull by an attendee.
As the London Card Show looks ahead to the Growing Business Awards ceremony on November 26th, the double nomination not only underscores its rapid growth but also its impact on the trading card community and beyond. With its roots firmly planted in family values and a customer-first approach, the London Card Show is poised for even greater success in the years to come.
