MTW opens its doors to the next generation of nurses – with Nurses and Midwifery Open Day on 7 May 2022

Nurses and midwives looking to progress their careers in a supportive, caring and forward-thinking NHS Trust, which has recently invested in new services and developments, are invited to attend a Nursing and Midwifery Open Day on Saturday 7th May 2022 at Maidstone Hospital to find out about the exciting and varied roles available.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW) wants to recruit a new generation of nurses where the sky is the limit on how far they can progress in their careers. The open day is for people at all stages of their career, from those about to qualify or newly qualified to experienced nurses or midwives looking for a new challenge.
Jo Haworth, Chief Nurse at MTW says the organisation wants to attract talented people with the right skills and compassion to deliver exceptional care to patients. She says, “We want nurses to realise their maximum potential and those who join us will be fully supported to develop professionally and personally. We want our staff to be the very best and we encourage them at every stage of their career.”
One nurse who has been supported by MTW throughout her successful nursing career is Louise Robertson who is now a Clinical Skills Facilitator. Louise qualified as an Enrolled Nurse in 1986, before moving to another trust to do her Conversion Course to Registered Nurse from 1993-94. She later worked at MTW’s Staff Bank for a couple of years but gave up nursing in 2007.
In 2017, Louise returned to MTW for an interview for a Staff Bank role however, her NMC pin number had expired 10 years previously. Although she was successful in her interview, she was advised to do a Return to Practice course which she did, receiving her NMC Pin number in 2018. Louise then joined as a Band 5 Staff Nurse and in 2020 was promoted to a Band 6 Junior Sister and this year made a Band 6 Clinical Skills Facilitator.
The Nursing and Midwifery Open Day takes place on Saturday 7th May 2022 between 9am and 3pm at Maidstone Hospital. Nurses and midwives can find out about the comprehensive induction programme, continuous professional development and career progression opportunities, and speak with senior nurses and midwives at the Trust.
There is an opportunity to be interviewed on the day too and possibly go home with a job offer. Those interested in attending should register by 6th May. Click here for more details.
