Southampton marketing firm proves it’s one of city’s best after increasing turnover tenfold

ONE of the city’s fastest-growing companies is celebrating its growth over the last two years.

Friends Josh Mitchell and Chris Stones set up their marketing agency, Mitchell and Stones in 2018 after both graduating from the University of Winchester.

Now, almost four years later, the company has grown substantially, and the pair are reflecting on the success it has had – particularly in the last two years.

Since 2020, Josh, 27 and Chris, 30, have taken the team from just the two of them, to now a team of 14, with three more roles currently being recruited for and an estimated headcount of 18 by the end of the year.

Managing director Josh said: ‘‘When we first started the business it was just myself and Chris in an office which we could barely afford but we have stayed committed to our vision which is to ‘become leaders in modern marketing by empowering our people, clients and partners to achieve the extraordinary’.

‘We’ve expanded our office several times and are very proud of our growth through the pandemic which we attribute to our people who deliver an outstanding service and level of consultancy to our clients, they are the heartbeat of this organisation.

Josh and Chris have increased the turnover of the business tenfold since 2019 and are optimistic that this growth trend will continue.

The business offers outsourced marketing services such as social media management, email marketing and online paid advertising campaigns, and have introduced new offerings such as SEO, website design and podcast support over the last two years.

They have put the growth down to their innovation and how they’re bringing something new to marketing.

Strategic and operations director Chris said: ‘The last three years have accelerated businesses’ marketing strategy into the digital world, due to the rise in the online and virtual ways of doing things. We’ve shaken up the traditional digital marketing model, providing an all-in-one solution that takes the pain away from managing an internal marketing department.’
