HOUSEBUILDER INSPIRES THE NEXT GENERATION OF ARCHITECTS, SITE MANAGERS AND ENGINEERS

Barratt David Wilson Homes is encouraging the next generation of builders to learn all about construction. The housebuilder, who is behind the Kingsbrook development on Burcott Lane, Broughton has recently donated 30 copies of its “We Can Build” children’s books to Broughton Junior School, which were presented during a site safety visit at Kingsbrook.
The pupils in Year 3 received copies of Barratt David Wilson North Thames’ “We Can Build” books, which encourage young people to learn about the built environment. The book includes information about sustainability in housebuilding and the professions available in the industry, delivered through a range of diverse character profiles including Sofia the Site Manager and Ade the Architect.
The donation was accompanied by a site safety visit delivered by the site team. During their tour around the site, the children were able to build a brick wall and learned about the importance of staying safe near a construction site, the different materials and tools used to build a home, and the different jobs required on site.
Marc Woolfe, Head of Sales at Barratt David Wilson North Thames, commented: “Primary school pupils are at an age where they are starting to think about what they want to do in the future, and discovering what they are passionate about. Site visits offer an interactive introduction to housebuilding, and the books offer an insight into how exciting and versatile the construction industry is. We hope the children enjoyed their visit, and perhaps, it has inspired the next generation of builders.”
Mr Charlie Reed, Headteacher at Broughton Junior School, commented: “We are always looking to inspire our pupils, so it is encouraging to see local housebuilder Barratt David Wilson investing in the future generations through this site visit and book donation. So many of our children love to build and make things, so this is such a fun way for the children to think about the development on their doorsteps.”
