Housebuilder Serves Winter Support For Swale Foodbank

Foodbanks are a lifeline for many, with The Trussell Trust foodbanks providing 1.5 million urgent food parcels from April to September this year alone[1]. With the winter upon us, this dependency is said to increase, and foodbanks are in need of more support than ever. As a result, Swale Foodbank has recently received a £500 donation from local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes who is behind the Applegate Park development in Borden.

Swale Foodbank, who has four centres across the district, provides emergency food which is nutritionally balanced for those who have been referred. Food is first kindly donated from various schools, business, and individuals, to then being packaged and ready for those in need to receive three days’ worth of emergency food. Their support is extended beyond just food, with advice and support in tackling the root cause which has locked these individuals into poverty, in hopes to build their resilience and become less in need to use a foodbank in the future.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for David Wilson Kent, commented: “We believe that no one should have to use a food bank but unfortunately with the alarming rising cost of living, food prices seem to be the worst affected area leaving people with no choice. It has been a pleasure working with Swale Foodbank who not only provide a food bank service, but provide advice to those in need in the Swale area. It is places like this which make a community over Christmas, and we are proud to support those who work tirelessly to make a difference in their local area.”

Esther, Project Manager, from Swale Foodbank, adds: “We would like to thank David Wilson Kent for their generous donation. With the winter season fast approaching, the cost-of-living impacts people’s livelihoods more than ever, resulting in more people utilising our foodbanks, so this donation could not have come at a better time and will aid our efforts in supporting the community. We encourage anyone to reach out if they are in need of any support, or even just for a chat – we are always here to help.”

David Wilson Kent is currently building a range of new four-bedroom homes at its Applegate Park development in Borden, Sittingbourne, with prices starting from £394, 995.
