Functional Flexibility: New CIMSPA-endorsed training course launch to support growing trend

Sports & Fitness education industry innovator, BBS [Body Before Skill] Training Academy has announced three brand-new courses exploring the numerous approaches to functional flexibility and mobility for sports and fitness coaches.

BBS Training Academy is the first internationally accredited training provider offering Functional Flexibility training for sports coaches and holistic training specialisations.

With the sport and fitness industry as a whole paying more attention to concepts such as functional movement and mobility and whole-systems approaches to coaches and training, the launch of the BBS Training Academy courses brings an affordable and license-free solution – helping trainers, coaches and operators to upgrade the skills required to answer the growing demand from consumers for more education and support in these disciplines.

This first selection of courses based on Functional Flexibility are delivered in an immersive eLearning format, are designed for sports professionals, trainers, coaches and teachers looking to expand their knowledge by incorporating effective stretching techniques and using functional flexibility to enhance athletic performance and injury prevention.

The BBS Long & Strong Functional Flexibility foundations course has achieved the highest level of CIMSPA CPD course accreditation, with 10 CIMSPA points awarded to qualifying CIMSPA-registered members. The courses have also gained accreditation from the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPS), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)

Being license-free means coaches and organisations who choose to take the BBS courses are not required to sign up for expensive licensing plans, and can use the knowledge gained in the courses to their chosen discipline and preferred coaching style. Diversity is key to the BBS approach to teaching and training – helping trainers feel guided in their individual approaches and allow them to teach what is useful and relevant to their particular practice, local culture, and the organisations in which they work.

Jessica Christensen, CEO and Academy Director says, “We’ve undergone extensive research and development in the last ten years, to build three progressive courses in flexibility and mobility to help coaches and trainers implement these practices in their sport and discipline of choice, using our experience and the latest developments in sports science. Our courses are designed to be adaptive to a coach’s discipline, culture and team requirements. We’re incredibly proud CIMSPA have endorsed our first course with a 10 CPD point accreditation, and we look forward to helping more coaches, trainers and teams upgrade their skills.”

Jordana Johnston, Skills Development Manager at CIMSPA says “We are delighted to welcome Body Before Skill onboard as a CIMSPA Training Provider Partner and look forward to working alongside them to further enhance the development opportunities for our members.

Their endorsed course, Long & Strong Functional Flexibility foundations, has been mapped against our professional standards and achieved the full 10 CIMSPA CPD points and will therefore serve to be a huge asset in accelerating learning opportunities around functional flexibility and mobility for the sector.”

As a sports science-based, holistic training education syllabus for sports, fitness and wellbeing, BBS Training Academy provides courses, workshops, and online resources focused on holistic training, rooted in a whole-systems approach to coaching and sports science. It’s mission is clear – to develop a holistic approach to coaching and training, promote best practices, and support the emergence of individual success, offering a multi-sports education to help coaches and professionals improve their athletic performance.
