A charity golf day organised by homebuilder Bellway Kent has raised over £30,000 for two charities.
The money raised was split equally between Kent-based charity, We Are Beams – which provides support services to disabled children and their families – and Cancer Research UK, Bellway Group’s chosen national charity.
The event, which included a golf tournament and evening entertainment, took place at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Tudor Park Country Club in Bearsted. Former Arsenal footballer Ray Parlour was the guest speaker at the event, which also included entertainment from magician Darren Delaney, while a trip to the Formula One Grand Prix in Las Vegas and a private tailoring experience were among items up for auction at the event.
Mark Harrop, Sales Director for Bellway Kent, said: “Everyone had a great time in aid of a great cause at our charity golf day.
“These charities mean a lot to us, as they do important work raising money for research and providing support services to make a difference to people in need.
“It was also a chance to get together to enjoy the golf and an entertaining evening with our sub-contractors and supporters.”
The event was attended by 92 golfers during the day and 130 people came to the evening.
Money was raised for the charities through entry fees for the golf teams, a raffle and an auction. As well as the tailoring and Las Vegas auction lots, those attending were also able to bid for a private dining experience and artwork.
Bellway Group has raised more than £3 million for Cancer Research UK since 2016 and has set a target to increase this to £4 million by the end of 2024.
We Are Beams provides support services to children and young people with physical, learning or sensory impairments in Dartford, Gravesham, Sevenoaks and the surrounding areas and aims to support the whole family through a range of services.
